וַיֵּצֵ֣א דָוִיד֮ לִפְנֵיהֶם֒ וַיַּ֙עַן֙ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לָהֶ֔ם אִם־לְשָׁל֞וֹם בָּאתֶ֤ם אֵלַי֙ לְעָזְרֵ֔נִי יִֽהְיֶה־לִּ֧י עֲלֵיכֶ֛ם לֵבָ֖ב לְיָ֑חַד וְאִֽם־לְרַמּוֹתַ֣נִי לְצָרַ֗י בְּלֹ֤א חָמָס֙ בְּכַפַּ֔י יֵ֛רֶא אֱלֹהֵ֥י אֲבוֹתֵ֖ינוּ וְיוֹכַֽח׃ (ס)
Und David ging ihnen entgegen und antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: 'Wenn ihr friedlich zu mir kommt, um mir zu helfen, wird mein Herz mit euch verbunden sein; aber wenn ihr gekommen seid, um mich meinen Gegnern zu verraten, da der Gott unserer Väter kein Unrecht in meinen Händen hat, schaut er darauf und urteilt.'
